Police CyberAlarm Launches New Notification Packages to Strengthen the Fight Against Cybercrime for Businesses and Organisations

Thursday, 24th April, 2025

Police CyberAlarm (PCA), part of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Cyber Crime Team, funded by the Home Office and supported by the Government, has launched a series of new notification packages aimed at strengthening cybercrime prevention and enhancing collaboration between law enforcement and organisations across the UK.

The first of these, the Geolocation IP Notifications Packs, will assist Regional Organised Crime Units (ROCUs) in identifying potential cybercriminals operating within their local areas. By leveraging data from suspicious activity detected by PCA members, law enforcement can take proactive steps to investigate and disrupt malicious activities. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce cyber threats by addressing criminal activity early.

Secondly, the Serious or High Volume of Critical Vulnerabilities Notification Packs have been developed to alert law enforcement about organisations within their jurisdiction that are facing significant cyber vulnerabilities. These reports will help Cyber Protect Officers engage directly with affected organisations, offering tailored guidance and support. By identifying member organisations who have critical vulnerabilities in their reports, the programme enables timely intervention and helps mitigate risks associated with unpatched vulnerabilities that could leave organisations open to cyberattacks.

From a policing perspective, these new notification packages will enable law enforcement to take a proactive approach to tackling cybercrime, ensuring that suspicious activity and potential threats are identified early. By highlighting cybercriminal activity within their regions, officers will be better equipped to take preventative measures and protect businesses and individuals from emerging threats.

For PCA members, the notification packages offer enhanced protection by ensuring that those with critical vulnerabilities receive timely advice and intervention. By notifying local law enforcement when vulnerabilities are identified, Cyber Protect Officers can provide essential support and awareness, helping organisations strengthen their defences and reduce the risk of compromise.

Police CyberAlarm remains committed to supporting organisations by offering insights into potential cyber threats and vulnerabilities. These new notification packages will enable a more responsive and targeted approach to tackling cybercrime, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between businesses and law enforcement, in securing the UK's digital infrastructure.

Police CyberAlarm is a free tool designed to help businesses and organisations monitor and understand malicious cyber activity. As part of the NPCC Cyber Crime Programme, PCA works closely with law enforcement to provide members with valuable insights, enhancing their cybersecurity posture and reducing the risk of falling victim to cyberattacks.
