Road Angel Partners with NASVE to Combat Vehicle Crime

Thursday, 27 February, 2025

Road Angel has announced its endorsement of the National Association of Stolen Vehicle Examiners (NASVE) and its ongoing efforts to support Qualified Stolen Vehicle Examiners (QSVEs) in their crucial work against vehicle crime.

This recognition reflects Road Angel’s commitment to promoting best practices and fostering stronger relationships between industry, law enforcement, and QSVEs.

By acknowledging the expertise and contributions of QSVEs, Road Angel aims to raise awareness of their role in identifying stolen vehicles and supporting law enforcement efforts.

The collaboration highlights the important contributions of QSVEs in reducing vehicle crime and supporting other areas of policing to tackle organised crime and reduce criminality.

Vehicles can be stripped down to their component parts very quickly

In 2024, Staffordshire Police reported seizing as many stolen vehicles in the first three months following their investment in a dedicated QSVE than were seized in the previous nine months.

The expertise of QSVEs enables them to conduct thorough examinations of stolen and suspected stolen vehicles that have had their identity compromised.

Using their specialist skill set, QSVEs can even trace component parts stripped from vehicles so they can be returned to their rightful owners.

Vehicle crime is a catalyst for a wide range of serious criminality and due to advancements in technology, QSVEs provide vital assistance in tackling all types of crime including drugs and firearm transportation, people trafficking, serious assault and more.

QSVEs are often the missing link in an inquiry because in many cases, stolen vehicles are the precursor for all types of crime.

Recognising the complexity and importance of their work is essential, and this collaboration underscores the need for support and acknowledgement of QSVEs in their ongoing efforts.

As vehicle thefts have seen unwelcome increases in recent years, the collaboration between Road Angel and NASVE represents a proactive approach to addressing this pressing issue.

ONS data shows an 85% increase in vehicle thefts from 2013/14 to 2022/23 - the majority of offences believed to be committed by organised crime groups, with vehicles being cloned, broken down or exported.

The export of stolen vehicles is a particular issue for high-value vehicles and cars are increasingly being used as currency between criminal groups.

The partnership aims to raise the profile of QSVEs and advocate for their recognition within law enforcement and the wider community as integral to tackling the evolving threat of organised crime.

Road Angel's dedication to building strong relationships with law enforcement, government agencies and key stakeholders is a cornerstone of its efforts to reduce crime.

The automotive technology manufacturer is also engaged in initiatives with the police to put more dash cams on UK roads to change driver behaviour and make roads safer.

The partnership between Road Angel and NASVE is a testament to the belief that collaboration across sectors is key to fighting crime effectively.

In a statement regarding the partnership, Gary Digva, the visionary behind Road Angel said: "The collaboration between Road Angel and the National Association of Stolen Vehicle Examiners is another important step in our daily fight against vehicle crime.

“Qualified Stolen Vehicle Examiners do vital work to reduce crime and they must be supported and recognised for their contributions.

“Vehicle crime has risen sharply in the last 10 years and is a catalyst for a wide range of serious criminal activity.

“When utilised most effectively as dedicated full-time examiners, QSVEs become indispensable to police forces, providing a specialist skill set which helps catch more criminals.

“It is incumbent on all stakeholders across the public and private sectors to work together to reduce vehicle crime.

“This collaboration demonstrates Road Angel's commitment to reducing vehicle crime as we build ever stronger relationships across the police, government agencies and key stakeholders.”
