Charity Cup final
Tuesday, 27 June, 2017
Two charities are set to benefit from a football cup final, which saw Nottinghamshire Police take on Police Scotland.
The national police finals game, which took place at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on Thursday 18 May are hoping to raise funds for DC Tim Dunne's charities and also Little Footprints, which supports Sneinton-based School for Parents.
A keen footballer himself, and member of the Nottinghamshire Police team, PC Dunne unexpectedly passed away while out cycling with his family on holiday in Majorca in 2016. He was also heavily involved in supporting a youth football team, 4LifeTriathlon Club and two swimming clubs. DC Dunne's son Louis was the mascot for the cup final.
School for Parents is a local charity that supports the many complex needs of babies and pre-school children that have cerebral palsy or other motor-related impairments, and children with Down's Syndrome. The charity also provides invaluable support for parents.
Insp Suk Verma said: "Tim is still very sorely missed by us all. He would certainly have been in this squad and we all fondly remember his sporting achievements."
