British Army football team to visit ‘Christmas Truce: Football Remembers’ Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum

The British Army football team will visit the National Memorial Arboretum on Tuesday 15th November, in advance of a charity football match, as part of Sport Remembers. They will be given a tour of the Arboretum, including the Arboretum’s new Remembrance Centre and will lay a wreath at the iconic Football Remembers memorial that commemorates the 1914 Christmas Truce. There will an opportunity for media to take photos during the wreath laying ceremony.

The British Army and German Armed Forces football teams will play in the “Game of Remembrance”, a charity fixture, at The Pirelli Stadium in Burton on Wednesday 16th November. The match will be attended by Sir Bobby Charlton, and senior political and military representatives. The National Memorial Arboretum’s world record attempt Christmas card to the British Armed Forces will be present for spectators to sign.
