TRACKER forges partnership with Crimestoppers to crack down on car theives And Urges Communities to Take Action.

Tuesday, 12 June, 2012

TRACKER, the stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) expert, is announcing a partnership with the charity Crimestoppers to cement its commitment to tackling vehicle theft at a local level, whilst actively supporting neighbourhoods nationwide in preventing car crime.

The new relationship combines two likeminded organisations that have made a vital contribution to protecting the public. Crimestoppers is an independent charity which calls upon the public to anonymously help find criminals and stamp out illegal activities; 23 people are arrested every day as a result of information passed to Crimestoppers.

Whilst less than half of reported stolen cars are ever recovered, the success rate improves dramatically if a TRACKER device is installed. Over 90% of stolen cars fitted with a TRACKER device are successfully recovered and returned to their owners, which in turn has led to over 2100 arrests being made.

By developing and supporting anti-vehicle crime campaigns with the general public across the UK, TRACKER and Crimestoppers aim to further close the net on car thieves. Crimestoppers Head of Campaigns and Communications, Isabel Cross, adds, "Crimestoppers is dedicated to reducing crime and therefore TRACKER is an ideal partner for the charity, we are looking forward to working closely together to create engaging campaigns that benefit rural communities. By helping farmers take proactive steps they will be able to protect themselves from the growing threat of vehicle and equipment theft, Tracker systems are operated by all 52 police forces in the UK add value in the fight against crime by helping to catch opportunistic villains and more serious organised gangs".

Stephen Doran, Managing Director of TRACKER comments, "Vehicle theft is highly stressful and disruptive for victims. Our strategic partnership with Crimestoppers forms part of TRACKER's ongoing focus on helping vehicle owners be aware of the dangers and reduce the financial and emotional strain that can result from having a car stolen.

"TRACKER already works closely with all 52 of the UK's police forces, which use our market leading SVR technology to identify and locate stolen vehicles. Now, through our partnership with Crimestoppers, we can complement that network by joining forces with responsible communities to step up the fight against vehicle crime. We urge the British public to get behind Crimestoppers, calling them anonymously on 0800 555 111 if they see or suspect they have seen a crime."

TRACKER stolen vehicle recovery systems work like an electronic homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden in one of several dozen places around the vehicle. There is no visible aerial, so the thief won't even know it's there. Unlike other tracking systems, the device works even if the vehicle is hidden in a garage or taken abroad, offering car owners the ultimate in peace of mind should the worst happen.
