Tom Winsor and Nick Herbert to address audience of policing professionals at major Westminster conference

Tom Winsor, author of the Winsor Review, will make his first public appearance since his nomination for Chief Inspector of Constabulary for England and Wales as part of the Policing 2012 event, speaking to an audience of police and security professionals, including senior union representatives, civil servants, heads of police forces and authorities and representatives from the private security industry.

Also speaking at the event are Policing Minister Nick Herbert MP, who will give a keynote address outlining the Government's vision for the future of policing and Police Superintendents Association President Derek Barnett and ACPO President Sir Hugh Orde, who will discuss the implications of the Winsor Review.

The event will also feature contributions from Shadow Policing Minister David Hanson MP, and Tom Brake MP the co-chair of the Liberal Democrat Home Affairs and Justice Committee and author of Trusted, Professional and Effective: British policing at its best.

The day will finish with the first Westminster hustings session ahead of November's Police and Crime Commissioner elections, with Labour's Alun Michael MP, who is standing for the nomination in South Wales, and Bernard Rix, who is running for the Conservative nomination in Bedfordshire.
