A POLICE sergeant from Leyland is set to represent Lancashire Constabulary in the World Police and Fire Games in New York next week.
Sgt Andy Walton, 42, from Chorley, works in the custody office and will take part in the triathlon on Sunday 28 August.
He is the only officer from Lancashire attending the prestige games which attract 15,000 athletes from all over the world to participate in 65 events.
Sgt Walton said: "It is an honour to be taking part in this event and to represent both Lancashire Constabulary and the UK.
"I've been competing in triathlons for three years now and have completed the London and Liverpool triathlons as well as other local events. I am looking forward to the challenge and to competing with athletes from around the world."
The games are held every two years and this year they will coincide with the ten year remembrance of 11 September 2001. They are the second-largest multi-sport event in the world and are open to all law enforcement and fire agencies from around the world.
