Police cadets take part in London Challenge

Tuesday, 07 June, 2011

Around 350 cadets and staff from 20 boroughs across London took part in the fourth London Challenge on 1st June 2011.

After parading at Buckingham Gate for a briefing, 54 teams were sent on a central London treasure hunt, based on a Monopoly board theme, to answer questions and amass points for each correct answer. The cadets, accompanied by Staff, were given 5 hours to complete the challenge and walked a route of nearly 10 miles.

In a closely contested challenge, this year's winners were Bexley Borough Volunteer Police Cadets. Runners up were Kensington & Chelsea and Lambeth.

Adrian Smith, Bexley MVP Manager said, "This is a first for Bexley and I am delighted that our cadets were the overall winners and they should be justly proud of their achievement. The day is a fun event giving all the cadets the chance to enhance their skills."

Inspector Adam Redgewell, Metropolitan Police VPC Coordinator said, "This was a fantastic event for the cadets to be involved in. It tested their skills of teamwork, decision-making and observation. It was brilliant to see such a large cadet participation from across London. The weather was perfect for the day and everyone had a great time. Congratulations to the winning teams."
