Friday, 18 June, 2010
FOUR officers from Accrington are set to climb the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland to raise money for Help for Heroes.
The team, PCSO James Gorrie, PCSO Mick Butterworth, PCSO Marc Brooks, PC Kat Stokes and Ryan Moore, the security manager from Oswaldtwistle Mills will take on the gruelling three peaks challenge this weekend, with PC Keith Maggs and Gill Loram acting as team drivers.
The adventure will begin at the foot of Ben Nevis tomorrow morning (Saturday 19 July), before they move on to Scafell Pike and finally Snowdon to complete the challenge.
PCSO Gorrie said: "I want to thank everyone who has supported us so far, particularly St Andrews and St Pauls schools, Rhyddings Business and Enterprise school and Tesco in Oswaldtwistle, who have supplied us with lunches.
"The charity boxes we have put around the town have all been filled and I'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated."
The team will also be holding a sponsored car wash at the back of Harvey Street Youth Club on 27 June.
Anyone who wants to sponsor the team can call PCSO Gorrie at Accrington police station on 01254 353749.
