QPM For BTP Superintendendent

Monday, 14 June, 2010

Following the award of a Queen's Police Medal (QPM) to Superintendent Phil Trendall of British Transport Police in the Queen's Birthday Honours, Andy Trotter, Chief Constable said:

"I am absolutely delighted. He is one of the most professional and dedicated police officers it has been my privilege to serve with. His contribution to the police service and to the rail industry, particularly following the terrorist attacks of 7 and 21 July 2005, has been outstanding and this is an honour well deserved."

Superintendent Phil Trendall is head of BTP's Counter Terrorism Support Unit.

He is responsible for the daily deployments of officers involved directly in countering the terrorist threat against the national rail network.

On 7 July 2005, Superintendent Trendall was in Scotland providing specialist counter terrorist support to the G8 conference.

Within hours of the attacks, he had assembled a team and returned to the capital, playing a pivotal role in the operational response that so effectively kept London's rail service operating safely.

Phil Trendall joined BTP in 1985 serving most of his career in London. For two years he was a trainer at BTP's training centre and was also a Duty Officer in the London Control Room. He is married with two children and lives in Hertfordshire.
