Police website makes top ten

North Yorkshire Police's website has been ranked as one of the top ten in the country.

The UK Police Website Index survey conducted by Sitemorse extensively tests and ranks each police force website based on certain criteria including page content, templates and infrastructure.

The survey which is conducted to ensure accountability and best practice online ranked North Yorkshire Police's website in ninth out of 57 forces - five places higher than last year.

A succession of tests found the website to be sixth overall for functionality and eighth for accessibility.

Over the past 12 months North Yorkshire Police have made vast improvements to the Force website introducing more interactive and in-depth content for users.

Live online meetings with local Inspectors have been introduced which have proved to be very popular with residents who can now interact with their Safer Neighbourhood Team from the comfort of their own homes.

Further developments include audio editions of the quarterly SNT newsletters and interactive crime maps to enable residents to view crime levels in their neighbourhood, and regular updates from local policing teams.

North Yorkshire Police's web officer Tom Stirling, said: "We work very hard to keep our website up-to-date with information about our current policing priorities, local crime updates and witness appeals, so we are delighted to achieve such a high score in the latest national survey.
