Twelve teams of women from police forces across England and Scotland gathered at Stevenage Leisure Centre last weekend (May 1 & 2) for the Police Sports UK (PSUK) National Basketball Championships.

Deputy Chief Constable Simon Parr was on hand to watch the finals and present the winning medals and trophy.

The teams, from as far afield as the Grampian Region of Scotland and Devon & Cornwall Police, battled it out over two days of competition. The final was contested by the two top teams over the past years, the Metropolitan Police Service and Lothian & Borders Police, with the Met winning the spoils with a final score of 64-34.

Hertfordshire Constabulary's team also had a successful weekend, reaching the semi-final before they were outplayed by the Met, whose squad includes six players who represented GB Police at European level last year.

Hertfordshire Constabulary's Inspector Barbra Campbell, who co-ordinated the event and played for the host team commented: "This tournament was a great success and Stevenage Leisure Centre was very pleased to be able to host a prestigious PSUK event."
