National Vehicle Crime Conference Aims To Drive Down Car Crime

Wednesday, 17 March, 2010

The ACPO Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (AVCIS), the UK's dedicated vehicle-enabled crime unit, will hold its annual National Vehicle Crime Conference on 19-20 May 2010 together with the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI).

The two-day conference will be held at the Jaguar Cars Visitor Centre, Birmingham, and will highlight recent developments recognised by AVCIS and IAATI in the fight against vehicle-enabled crime. Offences against cars, motorcycles, construction plant equipment, road freight and leisure vehicles, such as caravans and motor homes, will all be discussed.

Speakers from leading crime-fighting organisations, such as AVCIS, IAATI, ACPO and the Home Office will cover topics including 'Crash for Cash' (insurance fraud) and technological developments specific to vehicle crime prevention, as well as provide updates on AVCIS' operations to combat vehicle-enabled crime.

Also present will be speakers from the Arson Task Force, Insurance Fraud Investigators and the Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science, while an exhibition involving some of the leading companies in the fight against vehicle crime will run alongside.

"The conference provides an opportunity for those within the industry to share their experiences and discuss trends in order to generate effective methods of preventing vehicle-enabled crime," said
AVCIS' Head of Unit, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Hooper. "With methods used by criminals constantly developing, events such as these are a great opportunity to ensure we keep one step ahead."

Delegate bookings are being taken for the conference, with a two-day rate available for just £145 with day one at £95 and day two at £75. To book, please visit the IAATI website:
