Drivers Warned Not To Leave Valuables In Cars

Police in Pemberton are reminding motorists to always remove valuables from
their vehicles when leaving them unattended.

There were 12 offences last weekend where items were stolen mainly
overnight from vehicles left on hotel car parks.

Sergeant Peter Clarke of the Pemberton Neighbourhood Policing Team said:
"Criminals can remove items from vehicles within a matter of seconds if
they're left insecure, so I would advise motorists not to leave sat navs or any other valuables in their cars as they are easy to spot and steal.

"Motorists should also remove sat nav mounting cradles and make sure they
wipe away any suction marks left on the windscreen or dashboard, as thieves will look out for these."

Other crime prevention tips include marking valuables with your postcode
and vehicle registration number, and writing down the make, model and
serial number of any items likely to tempt thieves.
