New Deputy Chief Executive at NPIA

A New Deputy Chief Executive has been appointed to the National Policing Improvement Agency.

Assistant Chief Constable Nick Gargan will
move from Thames Valley Police on promotion to the NPIA in January 2010.

Chief Constable Peter Neyroud, Chief Executive of NPIA, said: "We are delighted to have someone of Nick's calibre and range of experience joining the NPIA. The NPIA has a challenging agenda ahead to help improve the performance and cost effectiveness
of policing. Nick joins us a key point in our development and shares my enthusiasm for this challenge."

Speaking about his appointment, Mr Gargan said: "I'm extremely delighted to be joining the team at such an important time and I look forward to building
on the impact the NPIA already makes to policing."

Mr Gargan becomes Deputy Chief Constable,
Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer of the National Policing Improvement Agency on January 1 2010. He replaces Jim Barker-McCardle
who was appointed as Chief Constable of Essex in September 2009.
