3M welcomes new Department for Transport statistics
The UK Department for Transport has announced its provisional estimates on road casualties in Great Britain for the 12 months ending June 2009. Data shows that the number of fatalities in road accidents were down by 9 per cent compared to the same period the previous year 1.
Louisa Perry, Product Manager for 3M Traffic Safety Systems, comments: "We are pleased to see the number of road casualties has been reduced, but there is still a lot more that could be done to reduce this figure further. As a diversified technology company, 3M offers a range of products aimed at making road users safer including Driver Feedback Signs, to encourage drivers to reduce their speed; high performing reflective sheeting for traffic signs, to make them clearer and easier to read; and vehicle conspicuity markings, to make emergency service vehicles and heavy goods vehicles more clearly visible to other road users. We look forward to the end of year statistics and hope these will show a further reduction in the number of people being injured or killed on British roads."
