Sgt Starr with HSBC staff and representatives from Water Aid, NSPCC and Meningitis Trust
Last month, Clevedon police officer Sgt Gareth Starr presented a cheque for over £600 to three charities close to his heart.
He raised the money for the Meningitis Trust, NSPCC and Water Aid by taking part in the Clevedon Boxing Day Run and Weston's Tough Ten in February. His efforts were all in memory of his dear friend Steve Blewitt from Weston-super-Mare who died suddenly from Meningitis late last year. Before he died, Mr Blewitt worked at HSBC in Weston High Street.
The bank doubled the total amount that Sgt Starr raised. Sgt Starr said:"Steve was such a great friend and I know he would be pleased that I have raised so much money for such important causes. Water Aid and the NSPCC were two charities that Steve cared about and supported regularly - he actually had a dream to volunteer in Africa.
