Senior Officer Runs for Special Charity

Acting Assistant Chief Constable Tim Madgwick has completed a 40 mile run to raise money for the Special Olympics.
A/ACC Madgwick ran continuously around the grounds of North Yorkshire Police Headquarters from 8am until 3pm on Friday 22 May, until he had achieved his target distance.
He was joined by Deputy Chief Constable Adam Briggs for part of the challenge and was also supported by Special Olympics athlete Joe Hadfield.
Mr Madgwick is aiming to raise £5000 to help raise the awareness of the Special Olympics organisation which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
The Police are key fundraisers for the Special Olympics and A/ACC Madgwick is Chair of Special Olympics City of York and a board member of Special Olympics Great Britain.
Special Olympics is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition.
The next national games begin on 25 July, with over 2,700 athletes representing 19 Special Olympics regions across the UK.
A/ACC Madgwick said: "I took on this challenge to engage my colleagues across the country in supporting a wonderful charity and celebrating the national games in Leicester.
Yorkshire and Humberside are sending a team and any money A/ACC Madgwick raises will go towards funding the games and supporting the national programme.
Chief Constable Grahame Maxwell who cheered A/ACC Madgwick across the finishing line, said: "I am proud of the fact that the police are major sponsors of the Special Olympics. It is a great charity which helps improve the quality of life of many people.
"We will continue to support the Special Olympics and I commend Tim for his efforts in raising money for them and raising their profile in our area."
Jane Kenyon, Chairman of North Yorkshire Police Authority also praised A/ACC Madgwick's dedicated to the charity.
She said: "Tim has long supported the Special Olympics and I am delighted that he has once again taken on a challenge to raise money for them.
"Tim is a perfect example of the calibre of officers in North Yorkshire and the City of York who not only work tirelessly day in and day out for their communities, but also give their own time to many local and national causes.
"He has the full support of the Authority, and I am sure the rest of the policing area, in achieving his target."
