The Mayor of Enfield, Councillor Jayne Buckland, has unveiled the name of Origin Housing's latest development at Watermill Lane: The Bloc. This major site is being redeveloped to offer 221 high quality, contemporary affordable homes.

Before revealing the name of the development, The Mayor commented: "It is great to see Origin Housing re-developing the Watermill Lane properties, to provide some quality affordable homes for the borough."

There were presentations from Origin Housing, who gave further information about the scheme, and described some of their community initiatives that they will be setting up in Enfield over the coming years.

The scheme will offer a collection of Shared Ownership, Intermediate Rent, Key Worker and Affordable Rent homes. There will be one, two, three and four bedroom houses and apartments available, and many of the properties are expected to be allocated to those working in the neighbouring North Middlesex University Hospital. Construction on site is already well underway by principal contractors Galliford Try. The first phase of new homes is expected to be completed in January 2012.
