Blazepoint Launch New Rugged Computers at The Emergency Services Show 2009

Blazepoint, a leader in rugged mobile computing, recently launched the ndura RUGGED® IP67 Tablet and IP65 Convertible Laptop at the Emergency Services Show 2009. The devices, aimed at the emergency services and those involved in civil contingencies and emergency planning, are ideally suited to command and control applications, such as the control and monitoring of UAVs, for completing standard forms by Scene of Crime Officers, or for providing geographic information using mapping and demographic applications.

The ndura RUGGED® IP67 Tablet, developed this year to meet a demanding customer requirement, offers emergency services users an ultra rugged handheld mobile computer that can be used in all weather conditions and operational environments.

Designed to standard IP67, it is `hose-pipe proof` and dust-sealed, exceeding the prevalent IP54 standard for rugged computers. The rugged tablet device has an 8.4" touch screen, an exceptionally low EMC signature, low power consumption and the flexibility to add customised user interfaces and I/O ports. It has a state-of-the-art Intel® ATOM™ processor with upgradeable and flexible computing power to support demanding field applications. Combined with a lightweight and ergonomic design, it offers the optimum balance between performance, mobility and protection.

"The ndura RUGGED® IP67 Tablet sets a new industry standard in providing customers with the ability to upgrade and support rugged computing hardware to meet changing operational requirements", says Gary Littledyke, Director of Sales & Marketing, Blazepoint.

It offers durable resilient data protection to meet the most extreme environments (MIL-STD-810F), EMC (MIL-STD-461E) and TEMPEST standards. It also has an impressive IP67 rating and meets a variety of customer requirements, with a range of optional serial ports, GPS, daylight viewable screen and purpose designed case.

The new Tablet will be demonstrated on the Blazepoint Stand 314 alongside their latest ndura RUGGED® IP65 Convertible Laptop, which is being shown together with an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), the MW Power Microdrone, to demonstrate its proven suitability as a mobile ground control unit. UAVs can deliver aerial photography and live video for overt Police and Fire and covert surveillance requirements.

Built to withstand both high and low temperatures, vibration and shock, the ndura RUGGED® IP65 Convertible Laptop features the most advanced computing technology. Its 13.3" convertible touch screen provides clear images in bright sunlight and its IP65 rating provides unrivalled protection against dust and water ingress. It has proved its ability to withstand harsh conditions accompanying yachtsman, Pete Goss MBE, on his Cornwall-Australia voyage, for which it provided crucial communications access. Goss testified that the laptop's performance was unaffected by the knockdown effects of 14ft waves and having salt water dripping onto it throughout the night.
