As an Enforcement Agent at Maidstone Borough Council you will be part of a team who deal with the collection of monies owed. With a remit spanning diverse revenue streams, you will manage your own workload and deal with casework through to conclusion.

Making unsupervised visits to people who have defaulted on payments, you will seek to execute liability orders/warrants and either obtain the money owed or arrange and subsequently manage payments.

You may find yourself making enquiries to trace the location of people who have absconded or identifying and taking control of goods to the value of the debt. We will expect you to prepare detailed reports of all visits, cases, outcomes, and to liaise with customers.

To join our team, you will need relevant experience of working in a debt collection environment. We expect you to be qualified to a minimum of Level 2 in Taking Control of Goods, and to hold a current County Court Enforcement Agent Certificate. You must demonstrate detailed knowledge of the enforcement process for all debt types and have an understanding of insolvency legislation.

A good standard of literacy and numeracy is important for this role, as is a proven ability to manage conflict and deal with challenging customers. A full driving licence is also essential.

The Council considers this to be a customer focused role and the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.
