The first nets session for BPCC Ladies took place at Trent Bridge in February

Tuesday, 12 March, 2019

A great weekend of nets where held at the home of Nottinghamshire CCC where 12-14 players attended the 2 sessions.

Ladies travelled from all over the UK - Belfast, Devon, Suffolk, Merseyside and Dyfed-Powys to name but a few.  After the usual initial inhibitions everyone soon settled down and got involved in batting and bowling including the use of a bowling machine which was a first for many.

There was a cross section of abilities on show from beginners, those rejoining the game after several years absence to more regular players.  The enthusiasm and energy everyone put in was fantastic during both sessions and it wasn't too long before the banter started.  This was followed by further team bonding which took place in the evening whilst sampling the Nottingham night life. 6-7 of the group have been identified who could represent BPCC almost immediately, but at the same time we hope we have also given enough support, encouragement and advice to others for them to make contact their local County Board to find clubs with Ladies teams close to where they live and sign up to play.

Not only will it be an active social scene it will give them the time to receive more group and 1-1 coaching to allow them to develop as players. We feel confident they will do this and have offered to help them to achieve their goals plus hearing of their achievements on the playing field. So with this successful weekend just completed we are currently seeking availability at Trent Bridge to have another weekend which will give the opportunity to those who were unavailable and to any new potential players that contact us.
