Staffordshire Police Chief Constable Mike Cunningham has been awarded an
honorary doctorate by Staffordshire University.

The award was bestowed upon Chief Constable Cunningham in recognition of
his significant contribution to policing and law and order. It also recognises his unwavering commitment, as Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police, to the Forensic and Crime Science department at Staffordshire University, their
students and graduates.

His commitment to education has generated opportunities for Forensic Science and Forensic Investigation students to undertake formal research on placements with Staffordshire Police. Despite his very demanding schedule he continues to deliver inspirational talks at the University and more undergraduates are becoming Special Constables.

Chief Constable Cunningham said: “I am humbled and delighted to receive this
award. It is a great honour to be associated with the University and I look forward to continuing my involvement to demonstrate my appreciation.”

As Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police and with over 25 years’ of service, this
award is an honourable addition to the extensive achievements he has received
through making our communities safer. He was awarded the highest level of recognition in 2013 with the award of a Queen’s Police Medal in the New Year’s
Honours list.
