Police scheme specialist George Burrows continues support for Rupert Fund

Friday, 10 June, 2011

George Burrows, the specialist insurance services provider for the police and fire services, has reached its second year milestone of donations to the Rupert Charity.

The Rupert Charity exists to support the widows, children and mothers of officers of the PSNI - formerly the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) - and to recognise their sacrifice in the cause of peace in Northern Ireland. It was the first registered police charity.

George Burrows Managing Director Rob Constable said: "We have been a proud supporter of the Rupert Fund for many years. Every year we have donated a sum of money from each policy taken out through the George Burrows home insurance facility. We have now reached the two year mark and are committed to raising even more money for this worthy charity."

John Attwood, Secretary of the City of London Police Federation, said: "Over the past few years, the George Burrows team has made a huge contribution to the Rupert Fund and have helped us support many families through difficult times.

"For example we have used the money to allow widows and mothers of those who lost their lives serving the PSNI/RUC to get the opportunity to take a well-earned break from their stressful lives and spend quality time together. Many have visited us in London for our annual trip. We are delighted with the continuing support of George Burrows."
