Steve Reece, the new MD at RapidVu

New chief completes senior management team

Following last month's appointment of a new company chairman, RapidVu, the intelligent rapid deployment CCTV surveillance specialist has caused shockwaves in the industry and achieved another coup by securing the services of Steve Reece as its new managing director.

Reece, previously sales and marketing director with Video and Optical Systems has over 20 years of experience in security sales and management. He is now being tasked with leading from the front and achieving the ambitious growth targets set by RapidVu for the next few years of the company's development.

Together with new chairman Peter Beare and sales director Adrian Kirk, the first assignment for Reece will be to capitalise on the levels of interest currently being expressed in the company's products, not least the new Metalmidi system manufactured in the UK, which since launch has attracted interest from the security industry, private individuals and even football stars of the Premiership.

Well known in the security industry, Steve joins RapidVu from Video and Optical Systems Ltd, but has also enjoyed successful stints at Clovemead and Forward Vision (FVCCTV, latterly Bosch), where he honed a deep understanding of the needs of the electronic security market.

Steve's record of achievements and successful projects is considerable and highlights include his work at FVCCTV, where he grew the business from £4.8 million to £7.2 million in an eighteen month period that included work for the
O2 Dome in London and supplying the CCTV requirements for LiverpoolOne - a quarter of a million pound CCTV scheme for the biggest retail project in Europe.

"I am looking forward to this exciting new challenge at RapidVu and I am very proud of the innovation and technical team working with us to further develop products like Metalmidi in three and six month periods," said Steve following his appointment. "RapidVu now has the experience, the personnel and products to offer the right CCTV solutions to the market and gives us a critical advantage over our competitors. Our customer base gives us firm foundations to build on, so look out for further news on RapidVu and its now complete executive team!"

Headquartered in Manchester, Rapid Vu is already established as a key player in the supply of high performance CCTV systems and its solutions are ideal for mobile applications. Small, light, portable and flexible, RapidVu has established itself as the perfect solution for locations difficult to reach with more traditional forms of CCTV and is attracting interest from a wide customer base, including police, local authorities and anti-social behaviour (ASBO) teams.

Commenting on Steve's appointment, RapidVu's new chairman Peter Beare said, "Like many people in the industry, I have been lucky enough to work with Steve in the past and his skills and track record mean I am delighted to be welcoming him on board at RapidVu. Since becoming chairman, my first priority has been to get the best team in place and with the addition of an exceptional MD, we now have the key skills we need in the core areas of the business to exceed our customers' expectations and deliver superior CCTV products, and levels of service previously unseen in our sector. Steve is an energetic, knowledgeable leader and there is no better man to spearhead RapidVu's advance in the market."

In the wake of the perceived cost and ineffectiveness of traditional CCTV systems, RapidVu systems enable users to increase their surveillance resource while reducing costs. In an industry first, the wireless, intelligent technology pioneered by RapidVu can be used in non 3G areas at high speed, without the usual delays associated with fixed line communications. While the great fear of wireless has always been excessive network costs, RapidVu products allow customers to monitor live streams in different locations simultaneously, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week and all accommodated within a cost-effective monthly tariff.

The RapidVu business has grown considerably in the last twelve months in a market that is clearly geared for further expansion. With a new managing director in place, the company now has a triumvirate of CCTV talent on the board capable of expanding the RapidVu Empire to the furthest reaches of the CCTV world.
