Paul Scarrott added: "I'm delighted to have been offered the post of Assistant Chief Constable with Nottinghamshire Police and I'm excited about my role in helping the Force to address the challenges that lie ahead."

John Clarke, Chair of the Police Authority, congratulated them both and said: "These appointments will certainly increase the resilience of the chief officer team, which will drive improvements in performance and make Nottinghamshire communities safer as a result.

"It is vital that we have effective leadership in place to meet the very real challenges ahead and I'm delighted that we have been able to select two such highly experienced and appropriately skilled officers. It is to their credit that the appointments follow an extremely rigorous recruitment and interview process where the calibre of all candidates was extremely high."
Julia Hodson, Chief Constable, added: "These are two first class appointments for Nottinghamshire Police and both men will add real strength to the Chief Officer Team.

"We have some challenges to meet over the coming months and the role of ACC is key to our success.
