Police officers from Hackney Borough will be taking to the streets of Paris this weekend to run the marathon in the French capital.

Superintendent Rob Jones, DCI Gary Bruce and PCs Rob Heeley and Andy Barton will travel to France to run in the event in aid of a variety of local and national charities, including Help for Heroes, St Joseph's Hospice in Hackney and the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, Herts.

Last week Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson visited Stoke Newington Police station and lent his support to the officers.

DCI Gary Bruce of Hackney Police, said,
"Some of us have run the London marathon before, so we wanted a fresh challenge. We're hoping to raise a lot of money for three very worthwhile causes, whilst seeing a city in a different light and being part of a fantastic atmosphere."
