Policing to a new beat with Siren 107.3 FM

Monday, 02 February, 2009

PC David Milling of the Abbey Neighbourhood Policing Team, Lincolnshire, will be gracing the airwaves on Siren 107.3 FM with his brand new monthly radio programme, 'nothing to see here.'

For the opening show in December listeners heard updates on police and Community projects and there was also an exclusive interview with Divisional Commander Alec Wood. PC David Milling explained the aim of the two-hour, monthly show, "In order to let people know what we are doing in their area, we can spend a fair amount of time writing and delivering letters to the general neighbourhood but this method of communication does not appeal to everyone. The medium of radio is an excellent form of engagement as all beat teams can deliver what they need to tell the communities of Lincoln within the monthly 2 hour programme, thus allowing us to concentrate on matters that are directly affecting them. We don't just want to inform people of what we have been doing, we will be giving crime prevention advice; conducting witness appeals and each month will have partner agencies that will offer advice and help for anyone who wishes. I have also spent a lot of my own time planning for this show as well. For example I have approached the Citizens Advice Bureau to be a guest."
