Acting Chief Executive - Mike Urmston

Following Graham Berville's recent departure, Police Mutual is looking forward to a new chapter in its long history of serving the Police Family following the appointment of Mike Urmston as Acting Chief Executive.

Mike is already well known to the Society. Since May 2006 he has been a member of the Committee of Management, Audit Committee and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.

He also has the benefit of 27 years' financial services experience. Amongst the many different senior roles held during this time, Mike was Chief Actuary at General Accident and Finance Director at Norwich Union Life. Most recently, he was Strategic Projects Director for Aviva.

Police Mutual's Chairman, John Giffard CBE QPM DL BA is delighted Mike has agreed to cover the role until a permanent replacement is recruited.

"Given Mike's understanding of both the financial services industry and Police Mutual's important role in serving the Police Service, he is well qualified to lead the Society." He said.

"Mike inherits a business that is financially strong due to its prudent approach and is well-placed to withstand the difficult challenges facing the sector at the current time. He also has the full backing and support of the Society's executive who are looking forward to working more closely with Mike as, having already worked with him in his capacity as a member of the Society's Board, they know he will make a valuable contribution." Continued the Chairman.
