Hackney Police and Jewish Police Association hold recruitment event

On Tuesday September 9, Hackney Police in conjunction with the Jewish Police Association held a recruitment event in Stamford Hill, N16. The objective of this event was to encourage members of the Orthodox Jewish Community to consider joining the Metropolitan Police Service in a variety of roles, whether as a Police Constable, Met Special Constable, Police Community Support Officer or a Met Volunteer.

The event was held in Stamford Hill, N16 near Barclays Bank between 10am and 4pm, on a special Metropolitan Police double-decker recruitment bus. PC Danny Phillips from the Jewish Police Association attended along with local Hackney Borough police who answered numerous questions about the roles within the Metropolitan Police Service.

Partnership Inspector Jonathan Clinch of Hackney Police said the recruitment event demonstrated the Metropolitan Police Service's commitment to engaging with diverse communities.

"Instead of waiting for people to come to us, we are going to the communities where under represented groups live. Being flexible in this way has helped to recruit more people from different communities, which traditionally have not been well represented in the Met. Our ultimate hope is a Police force representative of the people of London," he said.

Supt. Alun Goode of Hackney Police also attended the event, engaging with the Jewish community and answering questions about working for the Metropolitan Police and Hackney.
