Our ambition is to be recognised nationally and internationally as the leading organisation for the provision of armed policing protective services in the United Kingdom. We play a key part in the Strategic Armed Policing Reserve and have been deployed across the country in support of Operation Temperer and other major events nationally.

We have a unique role in protecting the nation's security, which is why being a CNC Police Officer is about so much more than traditional policing. Our teams are highly trained, well-disciplined and professional, working to provide a 24/7 armed response; patrolling and protecting nuclear sites, facilities and materials. Not only that, we also patrol and engage with local communities and collaborate with our Home Office Police colleagues.

All new recruits will be enrolled onto our outstanding 18-week comprehensive Authorised Firearms training programme; we give our officers everything they need to become some of the most highly trained firearms professionals in the country, so there’s no need for you to have any prior policing experience when joining our team.

After your 2-year probationary period, you’ll be eligible to apply for a role in one of our specialist areas to enhance your policing skills further, such as Dog Handler, Special Branch, Firearms Instructor or Strategic Escort Group Officer.

As police officers the public expect us to display the highest standards, values and professional qualities at all times. The CNC values and Code of Ethics applies to all police officers and sets out the principles standards of behaviour we expect to see, and you are responsible for displaying and delivering to the highest standards. Please only apply for one vacancy at any given time.

Following the completion of your initial foundation course there is an option to immediately transfer to Hunterston for a period of up to two years, to support this site prior to closure. At the end of the two-year period, you will transfer back to your agreed home site.  If you are interested in this option, it would provide you with the ability and financial support to relocate to another area within the country on a temporary basis.
